1. 你认为…怎么样?
What do you think of…?= How do you like…?= How do you feel about…?
2.mean v.意思是,意味着mean-meant-meant
What does/do...mean? = What’s the meaning of..? ...的意思是什么?
例句:What does the word mean? =What’s the meaning of the word?
mean doing 意味着做某事 意欲,打算 mean to do 打算做某事
3. (1)三个穿的区别:
put on 穿上(动作) wear 穿着 (状态) dress sb / oneself 给某人穿衣服
例句:(1)It’s very cold. Please put on your coat. (2)He is wearing a new coat today.
(3)He can dress himself.
4. (1) be famous for 因…而著名 例句:China is famous for the Great Wall.
(2) be famous as 作为…而出名 例句:He is famous as a singer.
5. business n.生意,商业 businessman n.商人,生意人
例句:My uncle used to be a businessman.
拓展:on business 因公出差 例句:His father has gone to Beijing on business.
It’s none of your business. 不关你的事。 Mind your own business.管好你自己的事。
6. (1) end up 结束 例句:The meeting ended up.
(2) end up doing 以做某事结束 例句:The meeting ended up singing songs.
(3) end up with... 以某事结束 The class ended up with a song.这节课以一首歌曲结束。
(4) end up as... 作为...而结束
7.(1)die v. 死 die–died–dying die down 逐渐减弱,消失
die from/of 因…而死, 死于 例句: He died from illness.
(2) dead adj. 死的,死亡的 例句:He has been dead for 2 years. 他已经去世2年了。
(3) 拓展:death n.死亡 例句:The dog’s death makes me sad.
8. warn sb to do 警告某人做某事 warn sb not to do 警告某人不做某事
例句:(1)The teacher warns us to be quiet. (2)He warns me not to read aloud.
9. remind sb of sth ---使某人想起某事 remind sb to do sth 提醒某人做某事
例句:(1)The music reminds me of my old friend. (2)The picture reminds her to get up early.
10. (1)be scared/ afraid of sth 害怕某物
(2) be scared/ afraid of doing= be scared/ afraid to do害怕做某事
例句:She is scared to go out at night.= She is scared of going out at night.
11.in need 处于困境中,需要帮助 例句:A friend in need is a friend in deed.
in danger处于危险中 in trouble 处于困难中 in silence 沉默地 in excitement兴奋地
12. not only...but also... 不但...而且... (就近原则)
Not only he but also she likes football.= Both he and she like football.
both...and... A和B两者都...,连接两个并列的成分,与not only...but also...可以转换。
就近原则还有:either ...or...要么...要么... neither...nor... 既不...也不... there be句型

The Mid-Autumn Festival
Lunar (农历) August 15th of a year is the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is one of the most important festivals in China. It is also a Chinese traditional festival. On this day, people often get together to have a big dinner with their family. At night, people often enjoy the bright full moon and eat all kinds of delicious mooncakes in the open air. The mooncakes are round like the moon. They carry people's wishes to the families they love. Some people don't come back home until mid-night. How happy they are!
This is the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. I hope you'll like it.
(2) 春节:向外国友人介绍春节
Dear Jack,
I'm glad to hear from you. Since(既然) you are interested in the Chinese traditional festivals, I will introduce the Spring Festival to you.
The Spring Festival is regarded as(被看作) the most important traditional holiday in China. It usually lasts for 15 days. Before the festival, people usually clean their houses. They think cleaning can sweep all the bad luck away. They decorate(装饰) their houses with beautiful paper cutting. On the eve of the festival, family members get together and have big meals. Then they watch the Spring Festival Gala (春晚)on TV. At midnight, they set off fireworks to welcome the New Year. During the festival, kids get lucky money from old people. People put on new clothes and shoes to visit their relatives and friends. They wish each other a happy New Year. How happy we are!
