后来便认为直接用计算机来完成作业更快捷、方便，看见爷爷不在时就用它来帮忙完成作业。今晚有一道数学题惹了麻烦，露了马脚。这道题是：234分钟=（ ）点（ ）分钟。 我因为习惯了用计算机来完成，一小时等于60分钟我是清楚的，便不假思索在计算机上输入234，然后输入÷号，再输入60，按下=，很快出现3。9。因此，我非常相信计算机的正确性，便把这个数据直接填进括号里变成：234分钟=（ 3 ）点（ 9 ）分钟。
爷爷检查作业时问我，这个答案正确吗？我满有把握地说：“正确”。爷爷说再检查一下吧！我慢不经心的说：“绝对正确”。爷爷要我要我重新运算一遍，我拿出计算机一点，得数正好是3。9，便得意地拿给爷爷，要他自己去看。谁知爷爷根本不看，表情庄重，责令我进行还原，我只好老老实实进行还原，按答案加起来一算，只有189分钟，这时我心里很着急。
爷爷问我还有45分钟那里去了，我无法回答。后来才知道错在进位不同，因为计算机是十进位，而时间换算是六十进位的，因此出现了错误。该死的计算机这次给了我好大的麻烦，把我的秘密全暴露了。 爷爷非常严肃地对我说：做数学用计算机来检验或复查是可以的，但是不动手练习，直接用计算机来完成作业是一种投机取巧的行为，学校、家庭都不允许，因为它不能提高运算水平，还会妨碍自己智力的发展，同时产生懒妥性格。
这是一次深刻的教训，爷爷的话对我启发很大，使我知道了学习没有捷径好走，只有加强动手练习的自觉性，多动脑筋，善于钻研，才能提高数学的解题能力、运算能力、验算能力。
