Wish

Wither Heart is the third episode of the second season of Fractures and the 9th episode overall. It features the song Wither Heart by TryHardNinja, which was written exclusively for this collaboration. The episode was released on YouTube on March 23, 2019.

Featuring the voices of Lost Compositions (Rain), EileMonty (Stella) and ThisIsChris09 (Ser Patrick), the episode follows Rain and Stella's journey to the Coven Village in hopes of finding a spell to cure Rain's curse.

Synopsis

A witch and a dragon tamer embark on a journey in search of a cure for the Wither Heart.

Plot

The episode opens with a meeting between Ser Patrick, Stella, and Rain. Stella mentions the Coven, a clan of witches that study the mystic arts and suggests that she and Rain go there to purge his Wither Heart Curse, which he received from getting stabbed by the Ruby Thorn. Ser Patrick objects to this, as they have heard nothing from the Coven since the reign of the Undead, and dismisses Rain's argument by questioning his identity as the Dragon Tamer. Before the fight can escalate further, Stella reassures Patrick that they can handle the threats that come their way. With reluctance, Patrick agrees to let them go but mentions he won't be held responsible for whatever happens to them. Rain promises that they'll get back safely, before he and Stella leave.

Ser Patrick and Lady Azura watch Rain and Stella leave. The pair walk across various landscapes and ruins on the way, but his sickness worsens as they reach the Mystic Forest. The duo set up camp for the night, however are ambushed by a horde of Zombies at nightfall. The two fight them off, but Rain's sickness only worsens, as his right eye turns black and red, the same as the Zombie's eyes.

The two take the rest of the way on boat, Stella talking to him to try to distract Rain from his worsened state. By the time they get close to the Coven Village, Rain collapses, both his eyes now red and black and Stella is forced to go on without him. When she reaches the Coven Village, she is devastated to find the witches have been killed. Her magic then alerts her to Infernius, a skeleton with pyrokinesis, who attacks her, shattering her barrier spell. The two battle, with Stella throwing everything she's got at him but is ultimately outmatched. In desperation, she opens a Nether Portal, sending Infernius to the Nether. Afterward regaining her footing, she finds a Wither Book and returns to Rain. Using a powerful spell with both her book and the Wither Book, she is able to cure Rain's sickness. When he sits up, she embraces him in a hug.

Trivia

The draft names for this episode were "Arcane Heart" and "Runeseeker", then "Lost Heart", before TryHardNinja and Rain settled on "Wither Heart".

Stella was, at that time, officially revealed as the only survivor of the Coven.

However, after Poison's release, it is confirmed some Coven did survive, living in Lance's Castle.

This is both Rain and Stella's first speaking role, with Rain voiced by Lost Compositions and Stella by ElieMonty.

This is the duo's debut into the Rainimator series as voice actors.

This also makes Stella the only female character so far to have her own voice actor, as Amelia Mader voices Azura, Abigail Crysteffor, and Ceris.

This was the first collab between Rainimator and TryHardNinja.

This episode and Just So You Know hold the record of featuring the least characters, with only 5.

All of these episodes feature a member of the Ender Watchers, more specifically Rain.

Each of these episodes has featured a person with Pyromancy, with Scorch and Infernius fulfilling those roles respectively.
