The Struggle is the first episode of the first season of Fractures. It uses Blacklite District's song of the same name. The Struggle centers around a group of villagers who are forced to flee their home from Herobrine after an outbreak of the Zombie Virus

Synopsis

Herobrine's undead forces have risen and brought up a zombie apocalypse. Will our heroes manage to fend them off in the ultimate struggle for survival?

Plot

On the outskirts of Glacierford, a village of the icy taiga, a villager named Oscar encounters and kills a zombie. He receives several wounds; most notably a very concerning bite. During the night, Oscar becomes infected from the wounds and starts a rampage, infecting the other inhabitants and plunging the village into chaos. The survivors of the attack are able to fight off some infected and escape outside the village walls.

After fleeing the village, the villagers Rain Wynter, Abigail Crysteffor, and three other survivors continue on a long journey through the taiga to escape the Undead, setting up camp. However, Rain and Abigail prepare by setting up guards, but they can indulge in false hope no longer until Herobrine's army of zombies catches up to them.

While the other survivors fight the zombies, Rain engages in a duel with Herobrine, and nearly defeats him before Herobrine teleports away using his pickaxe. With the rest of the survivors killed, Rain and Abigail attempt to cross a bridge to evade the zombies. However, a creeper runs up to the bridge and explodes, destroying the bridge and separating Rain and Abigail from each other, stranding one on each side of the bridge. Rain engages the swarm to give Abigail time to run, becoming one of the infected in the process. Abigail, paralyzed in shock and upset, cannot react in time as an arrow plunges straight through her skull.

This episode had several earlier scenes recreated for 1 of a Kind.

Despite being in the original thumbnail, there were no Endermen in the episode.

Rain later tweeted he had "no idea" why he included an Enderman in the original thumbnail.[1]

This is Rain Olaguer's first YouTube animation under the Rainimator name.

This is the first episode in which members of the Production Team have appeared in the series, albeit almost three years before its formation.

Rain said on Discord and Twitter that he had to build the bridge and blow up a ravine with TNT because he couldn't find one on the map.[2]
